Pay Day

Seeing the reaction when one of our woman business owners, like Keziya above, gets paid for her hard work fills me with joy, and I hope it does the same for you.

Your support is what makes this happen!

This week, the weavers in our women's Kisakyamukama business group received cash in hand from the sale of several of their baskets and other items.  This is one of the groups selling at our craft store in Kamuli town.

In the past few months, there have been some local customers, and this week, there were customers from the US who bought several of the baskets.

They are also bringing some of the baskets back for me, which I'll have available for those of you who've asked about getting one.

Jane and Joweri receiving their profits from the crafts sold at the store!

In the pics and the short video linked here, you can see and hear the cheering from the women. I think you'll enjoy seeing Florence get her money!

Beyond the joy is relief because now the women can buy food for their children and pay their school fees.

You can also see how proud the women are of their accomplishments! If you've ever owned a business and experienced that first sale, you know exactly how the women are feeling!

This is the combination of your donations, and support, and the hard work of the women and our team. That is a real partnership making a difference!

We now have eight women's savings and business groups helping to empower and support 400 women and their families. (There are a few enlightened men who have also joined once they saw how successful the women were !)

We are always looking for sustainable businesses for the women to start.  One recent suggestion from one of our advisors was a construction business.  We'll be looking into this in the future. Imagine a female construction business in Kamuli, Uganda!

Thank you for investing in these women and for partnering with us!

 With Gratitude,

Mary

P.S.-  With Mother's Day coming up on May 11th, a donation to CLP can make a wonderful gift either in honor of, or in memory of, a mother or special woman in your life. It's easy to do and you can put a note in the comments, or send me an email, and I'll get a card out! It's a sustainable gift with a big impact!
