About Our Team

People often ask how we get so much done so quickly. The answer is simple.

Our work is led by people who live it every day.

Annet, Betty, Hilda, and Aminsi are our core team in Uganda. They live in the same communities we serve and bring firsthand knowledge of the challenges families face and the solutions that truly work.

Each day, they travel to remote villages throughout the Kamuli district. They run programs, deliver food, oversee building projects, meet with families, check in with students at school, and collect the data that guides our work and strengthens our impact.

This is community-led action.

It is not distant aid or short-term intervention. It is consistent, trusted, on-the-ground leadership.

Their dedication, care, and deep commitment to their neighbors are what make real, lasting change possible.

Because our team is local, your support moves faster and reaches further.

This community-led approach is the heartbeat of our organization. It is also what first inspired our founder to act and continues to shape how we show up, listen, and lead alongside the people we serve.

About Our Founder

Mary Muroski’s journey to founding the Children’s Legacy Partnership Foundation began with her first trip to Uganda.

The level of poverty she encountered was striking, but so was something else.
The resilience, creativity, and generosity of the Ugandan people, even in the face of immense hardship.

That first experience stayed with her.

Mary returned to Uganda year after year as a volunteer, driven by a growing conviction that short-term help was not enough. Raised with strong examples of community service from her mother and grandmother, she believed deeply in the responsibility that comes with witnessing need.

At the same time, Mary was seeing similar challenges in her own classroom as a teacher. Many of her students were growing up in households affected by addiction and economic instability, often resulting in low confidence and limited belief in what their futures could hold.

In response, Mary launched the first Empower Youth Leadership Conference in her classroom for 16 girls on a Saturday. The goal was simple: to create a space where young people felt seen, valued, and able to imagine a different future. The impact was immediate and clear.

That moment confirmed what Mary already felt. This was not just something she cared about.  It was the work she was meant to do.

“Once you see need, you are changed by it. The question becomes how you choose to respond.”

Since 2017, Mary has led the Children’s Legacy Partnership Foundation with that same clarity of purpose. After retiring from teaching, she focused fully on growing the organization and expanding its reach.

Today, the organization is dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty and violence for children in the United States and Uganda through sustainable, community-led programs that help families build lasting change without reliance on ongoing aid.
