With our expanded work in rural communities in Uganda this year, you have helped children get a healthy start in life. One of the most challenging issues our team faces is helping single teen mothers who have no resources, no one to turn to.
The Principal’s Office?
Since my first visit to Uganda 14 years ago, I have enjoyed spending time visiting schools and even doing a little guest teaching. This time I visited about 20 schools and was in about 100 classrooms I think!
It was great to visit the students you all helped send to school this year! Each time we stopped at a school, our students were told to report to the principal's office. You can imagine they might have thought they were in trouble for something! Monika was relieved when she saw it was us!
The Ultimate Streaming Service!
Meet Goreti, Sarah, & Christin. These girls had to leave school two years ago because their families could no longer afford the tuition. In rural Uganda, girls who have to leave school are often left to “fend for themselves” to get food to survive. You might imagine what that means!
A Better School Lunch
The experience of a lifetime is how I would describe my recent trip to Uganda. Even though I've been there many times now, each visit has been filled with incredible experiences. This one was no exception.
The Team with a Dream!
Saying goodbye is always hard since I know it will most likely be at least a year before I return. Of course, I talk to our team every day, but it's not the same as spending time with them.
During the past 2 weeks, our incredible team in Uganda worked even harder than usual! They were with me the entire time as we went around to the communities to check in on all of our programs and projects. They put in long hours away from their families and other responsibilities.

Wow! It's hard to know where to start- I've been in Uganda two days and already visited many of our projects and seen many old friends. The pic above is a delivery to Mary and her daughters, Jackie and Mary. Thanks to you, our donors, they received much-needed food relief, plus seeds and seedlings to plant for food security.
Sorrow, Joy, and Gratitude
Early this year I put out the call for help for the Rogers family when their home in Kamuli, Uganda burned. They had nowhere to sleep and their household belongings were destroyed. Thankfully no one was hurt.
You, our wonderful, caring, community of donors, quickly rallied for this family and we raised enough to rebuild their modest, one-room home (for about $500)! Our amazing team organized a plan for getting the materials and the building was completed in a couple of weeks.
Heading to Uganda!
September 21st, I head to Uganda! This will be my first trip over since the pandemic! The pic above is from my last trip meeting with one of our women's groups.
The travel is a bit strenuous, to put it mildly, and the advance planning and preparation are A LOT! But I'm looking forward to visiting all of our programs and projects.
