They Passed With Flying Colors

Christin completing her exam

This week was a big one at our Vocational Center.

The girls finishing our two-year tailoring program sat for their final exams, and you could feel the nerves in the room.

And honestly? We couldn't be prouder!.

These young women have worked incredibly hard. Many have faced serious challenges along the way, some even navigating an unplanned pregnancy, taking time away, and then choosing to come back and finish strong.

Their determination has been inspiring to watch.

Month by month, we've seen their confidence grow. Thanks to your support, they didn't just learn tailoring skills (on a treadle machine, no less!), they also learned financial skills and how to work with customers.

These are tools they'll carry with them for life.

Fazirah and Goretti are two of our top students!

This week's exam was no small thing. Each girl had to take measurements, create a pattern, and sew a traditional dress from start to finish.

We knew they could do it, and they passed with flying colors (literally)!

These girls hold such a special place in our hearts. You've read many of their stories over time, and you know how much they've overcome. They keep showing up because they want a better future for themselves and for their children.

Some of the graduates will return to mentor and help teach new students.

Others are already earning income by sewing reusable pads for our period supply kits. And some will go on to open their own businesses or work in local shops.

This is what sustainable change looks like.

Next week, both our tailoring and hairdressing students will celebrate with a graduation ceremony complete with speakers, certificates, food, cake, and yes… music and dancing.

For many of these girls, this will be the only graduation they ever experience. It's a big deal and a well-earned one.

Thank you for being part of their journey. These girls know they are supported, and they are deeply grateful.

This is what it means to make a real difference!

With Gratitude,

Mary
