Six Months of Progress
Letters between friends from Kamuli, Uganda to Hinesburg, Vermont
As we enter the second half of 2026, we want to pause for a moment to celebrate what your compassion and generosity have already made possible.
Every number below represents a life changed. A child with new opportunities. A young mother with renewed hope. A family taking steps toward self-sufficiency.
None of this happened by chance.
It happened because people like you chose to care.
Here's what your generosity has already made possible this year:
190 girls participated in reproductive health education classes, giving them knowledge, confidence, and the tools to make informed decisions about their futures.
30 young women enrolled in tailoring and hairdressing training at our Girls' Vocational Center. They are learning practical skills that will help them earn an income, support their families, and build independent futures.
30 expectant mothers received Safe Birth Kits, helping provide a safer beginning for both mother and baby.
Our fourth Kitchen Garden is now underway, expanding our model of food security for vulnerable women and children. These gardens provide nutritious food while teaching sustainable agricultural practices that families can continue for years to come.
Young mothers' business group, and rain barrels for the new kitchen gardens.
Nine Women's Savings and Business Groups, now totaling nearly 450 members, continue to help families move beyond poverty through savings, entrepreneurship, and mutual support. This year, we were especially excited to organize our newest Young Mothers Group, providing ongoing encouragement and business support for graduates of our tailoring program as they begin building their livelihoods.
Twelve children are attending primary and secondary school, opening doors to opportunities that will shape their futures for years to come.
Through our partnership with Kamuli Kids Gorilla Hoops, children in Kamuli are receiving more than basketball training. They are finding mentors, building confidence, learning teamwork, and developing leadership skills that reach far beyond the basketball court.
Our Connecting Cultures program connected 50 students at Butende School in Uganda with 50 fifth-grade students at Hinesburg Community School in Vermont, building friendships across continents and helping young people discover both the similarities and the unique experiences that connect us all.
This Is What Your Support Looks Like
When we talk about changing lives, this is what we mean.
A girl who stays in school because she understands her health.
A young woman earning her first income with skills she has learned at the vocational center.
A mother welcoming her baby with greater safety and dignity.
Families harvesting vegetables from a community garden that will nourish them for seasons to come.
Children attending school, discovering their potential, and dreaming bigger dreams.
Young people finding encouragement through mentors, sports, and friendships that cross oceans.
These are not future goals. They are lives already being transformed because you chose to stand with us.
As we look toward the second half of 2026, we are filled with gratitude for all that has already been accomplished and excited for what lies ahead.
Thank you for believing that every child deserves opportunity, every mother deserves dignity, and every family deserves the chance to build a brighter future.
Together, we are creating a legacy of hope that will continue for generations.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Mary
