Building a Future
Esther is all smiles!
There's a moment at our Girls' Vocational Center that I wish you could see in person.
It happens when one of our young mothers sells a dress she made herself.
She's learned the tailoring skills. She's put in the work. She's taken a piece of fabric and turned it into something another person wants to buy.
And then she gets paid for it.
For a second, there's almost disbelief on her face.
Someone just paid her for something she made.
Then the smile comes.
Her face lights up. She stands a little taller. You can almost watch her confidence rise right along with that smile.
And what I love just as much?
The other girls are excited for her, too.
They know what went into making that dress. They've been learning and working alongside her. So when one young woman makes that sale, the excitement spreads.
Because now they can see what's possible.
This is about more than learning how to sew a dress.
It's about a young mother developing a skill she can use to earn income. It's about experiencing the pride of having someone value her work.
And it's about that moment when something she has been learning becomes something real.
A dress was sold.
But something much bigger happened.
A young woman saw what she was capable of, and so did the girls around her.
These are the moments I wish every CLP supporter could witness in person.
Since you're part of this community, I wanted you to see this one!
With gratitude,
Mary
P.S. The best part? Her friends are celebrating right alongside her. When one girl sees what's possible, the others begin to see it for themselves, too.
