Proud of Our Students
Monica is doing well in school!
This week brought plenty of excitement for our team in Uganda!
School reports are in!
It's the end of the second term, so Aminsi and Hilda have been out visiting students and collecting their progress reports.
Despite the challenges these children face every day, they continue to work hard and do well in school.
Winnie and Festus also received especially high marks, and we couldn't be prouder of them! (But we still can't get Festus to smile for a pic - he is so shy!)
Seeing their progress is a powerful reminder of what consistent access to education can make possible.
And because of your support, these children have that opportunity. Thank you!
Three new gardens are growing!
This week, the team planted three more kitchen gardens, bringing the total to seven gardens for families in need.
Mily, Magoba, and Hajira are our newest garden recipients. The team improved the soil, prepared the beds, and planted the first seedlings.
We're also learning as we go. For these newest gardens, the team divided the raised beds into two sections, making them more stable, easier to access, and easier to move if needed.
Small adjustment. Big improvement.
And look what's happening in Jennifer's garden!
Jennifer's garden is now producing food her grandchildren can eat.
This is exactly what we hoped to see: families growing a steady supply of fresh, nutritious food right at home.
Seven gardens in, we're seeing just how much possibility can grow from a small plot of soil.
And finally…congratulations, Joseph!
We're sending huge congratulations to our advisor and Kamuli Kids Basketball program partner, Ssozi Joseph, who completed the Mt. Rwenzori Half-Marathon in Kasese, western Uganda!
Joseph is an incredible role model for young people in Uganda and a strong advocate for both physical and mental health.
We're so proud to have him in our corner, and we hope his legs have recovered by now.
Thank you for being part of all this progress. From strong school reports to seedlings becoming food, there was a lot to celebrate this week.
We're grateful to have you along for it.
With gratitude,
Mary
P.S. I think Jennifer's garden might be my favorite photo this week. Seeing food actually growing for her grandchildren is one of those moments that makes you not only stop and smile, but also shows us the lasting difference we are making together.
