Determined to Succeed!
Martha is a shining star in her Primary 4 Class! Her teacher commented, “She is very determined!”
Nothing makes me more excited than sharing with you the success of the children you've helped send to school!
As children in the US have started a new school year over the past few weeks, our students in Uganda have just finished their second term, and their reports are in, and they are all doing well- thanks to you! (Schools in Uganda are on a trimester schedule, and the school year runs from February to November.).
It was just about two years ago that our team came across Emmanuel - he was barely dressed and was undernourished. At just six years old, he was splitting large rocks into smaller pieces and then traveling from village to village to sell them.
He is an orphan being raised by his elderly grandmother, and they were both working to earn money for food. The picture of Emmanuel sitting on that pile of rocks is one I will never forget.
We were able to quickly stabilize their situation with some food relief and clothes for Emmanuel. But his big dream was to go to school like some of the other children he knew. We posted a project for him on Donorsee, our crowdfunding partner.
You, our wonderful donors, jumped into action, and we raised the funds for his tuition and school supplies. Now, two years later, Emmanuel is in Primary 2 and one of the top students in his class!
This year, with your help, we've been able to sponsor 14 children in their education. Most are orphans being raised by an elderly grandmother.
Each year a child can complete in school gives them a better chance of breaking the cycle of poverty. Learning to read, write, and do basic math calculations makes a big difference in their ability to get a job or run a business to support themselves.
Our Legacy Leaders, through their automatic monthly donations, play a big part in our being able to send children to school, and we are incredibly grateful. Monthly donations allow us to better plan for the children's education.
The cost for educating a child in primary school is $25 a month per child - that's .83 a day. What is a small amount for most of us makes a big impact for a child's future.
Thank you for investing in these children! You make a difference for them every single day, and they send you their gratitude and love.
With Gratitude,
Mary
P.S.- If you're feeling inspired, you are welcome to pass this blog post along to friends and family! We'd love to introduce more people to CLP and we could use your help!
