Resty is Beginning Again

Meet Resty. This is her story as told to Hilda and shows the power of what your support makes possible!

Resty is 26 years old and a mother of five children.

Her life has not been easy, to say the least.

When Resty was still in primary school, her father died, leaving her mother to care for seven children alone. Her mother traveled from village to village, selling goods in local markets, just to keep food on the table and to try to pay school fees.

While still very young, Resty became pregnant and later married. At first, things felt hopeful, but over time, poverty, violence, and alcoholism took over the home. Resty found herself carrying the weight of caring for the children mostly on her own.

Then came the moment that changed everything.

Her firstborn son became seriously ill with malaria. They could not afford treatment, and without proper medical care, he died.

Resty knew she could not continue living the same way.

She left her husband and came to Kamuli town with her children, where she met Hilda and joined our vocational skills tailoring program earlier this year.

Today, Resty is one of the fastest learners in the class. She has already learned sewing skills and is helping create reusable pads and hygiene kits for girls in surrounding communities.  And slowly, her life is beginning to change.

The woman who once cried constantly while remembering her son is beginning to smile again. She is gaining confidence. And as she starts earning her own income, she now dreams of one day paying school fees for her children herself.

That hope is possible because of supporters like you.

Your generosity is helping women like Resty rebuild their lives with dignity, practical skills, and the chance for a different future.

Thank you for being part of her story!

With Gratitude,

Mary & Hilda

P.S.- Each time we sit and listen to stories like Resty's or Naigaga Mary's, we are reminded just how much these young women have survived before most have even begun adulthood. Their struggles are heavy, heartbreaking, and deeply personal. Because of your support, they are no longer facing those hardships alone.  That transformation is possible because people like you care.
